War!

A Promise TCG take on the classic game of War.

Requirements:

  • Ages: 8 and up
  • Players: 2 or more
  • Time: 3 minutes per player
  • Each player must have a legal Promise deck.

Each player will shuffle their cards separately from one another and make a draw pile.

Both players draw 3 cards into their hand.

Both players designate a spot for their victory discard pile.

Order of Operations

Both players will choose any one card to place face down on the table. Once both players have their cards on the table, they flip over the card to reveal what it is.

Whoever has the higher power level card will win the trick and place the cards into their victory pile.

Tiebreaking:

  • If two people tie by playing the same card at the same time, they both will place two additional cards face down in front of them and then play another card face up. The winner of this new card gets to claim all of the face down cards as wins and places the cards in their victory pile as normal.
  • Tying once again on the cards here will cause another tiebreaker to occur immediately.
  • If the players would run out of cards doing a tie breaker, they must announce so beforehand. The deficit amount of cards is taken out of the face down cards in the tiebreaker. For example, if both players only have two cards when a tie breaker commences, they must place one card face down and play the other card face up like normal.

Once the players are unable to play any cards due to starting a turn with an empty hand, the game ends.

Once both players are out of cards, the score is tallied. Whoever has the most cards wins.

Once the score is finalized and the winner is declared, both players sort out the cards they have and return them to their proper owner.

The game plays the same way as the 2-player version, except for these slight modifications.

Modifications:

  • The sole highest player takes the trick.
  • If two or more tie, then all players who tied play the tiebreaker challenge.
