Speed Bible

Speed Bible

A fast-paced game of order, which also quizzes youth on their Biblical knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Ages: 10 and up
  • Players: 2 or more players
  • Time: 2-5 minutes per round
  • Each player must have a legal Promise deck
  • A referee (optional, but recommended, due to needing an official ruling sometimes)
  • A Bible or a Books of the Bible sheet

Each player must make a 4 by 5 grid of cards from their Promise deck, with all cards face down.

Note: For game purpose, the “first” card will be the top left card when looking at the grid from the perspective of the player, and numbering moves right like words on a page, wrapping to the leftmost card in each successive row. The “last” card will be the one on the bottom right corner.

Order of Operations

Once all players are ready and understand the rules, the referee says “Go!”

Players must now flip over all of their cards and sort them by Biblical order. Specifically, the verses referenced on the card must be placed into Protestant canonical order, including chapters and verses, according to the Table of Contents of a Bible. They must also still be in the same 4 by 5 grid.

The first person to get done shouts “Done”. They (or a referee) now check the Bible to see if they put them all in the correct order. If the player was correct, they win. If they were not correct, they must redo their ordering and shout “Done” again when they are done.

Note: Other players should not stop and may shout “Done” when they are finished. This order is used in case previous players were incorrect on their ordering.

The first person to shout “Done” and have their Biblical order verified (potentially by the referee) wins.

Once the victory condition is met and the winner is declared, all players sort out the cards they have and return them to their proper owner.

To encourage everyone to finish, you may instead require all players to finish their grid before another round may commence.

To have a multi-round game, you may give one point to the winner, or assign point values to rank for whoever finishes.
