Dominion

Dominion

The most popular game to play with Promise cards. It is a simple and fast-paced game of domination against your opponents.

Requirements:

  • Ages: 10 and up
  • Players: 2 or more
  • Time: 5 minutes per player
  • Each player must have a legal Promise deck.
  • Each player must have a die or objects.
    • 2-3 Players: d10 or 9 objects
    • 4+ Players: d6 or 6 objects

Each player must set their Promise deck in front of them, facedown.

Each player draws 4 cards from their personal deck.

Everyone rolls their die to see who goes first (or decides in some other way).

Everyone sets their dice to the maximum value

  • 9 if using a D10
  • 6 if using a D6
  • If using objects, simply place them in a pile in front of you.

Order of Operations

The current attacking player places a card face-up against another player. It may be beneficial to announce which person you are playing it against.
o Note: In games of 4 or more players, the same player cannot be attacked twice in a row, regardless of whether or not they took damage.

The defending player may play a card to defend against the effects of that card. However, that card must have the 100’s place exactly one or two units higher than that of the card being played against them. The other two numbers do not matter.

For example, the attacking player plays a Power Level 299 card. The defending player plays a 441. Since the 4 in the hundred’s place of the defender is exactly two greater than the 2 in the hundred’s place of the attacker, the card defends successfully.

Both the attacker’s card and the defender’s card are discarded into their own personal discard piles.

If the defending player cannot play a card to defend, they take one HP of damage and reduce the value of the die by one. If playing with objects, remove one object from the player’s current health inventory.

At the end of the attacking player’s turn, they will draw up to the hand limit of 4 cards. Players do not draw cards outside of their turn. Thus, it is possible to have less than 4 cards at the beginning of your turn if you used one or more of them to defend.

Play moves clockwise from the attacking player.

The game ends when all players have been eliminated except for one. Last man standing wins.

Once the score is finalized and the winner is declared, all players sort out the cards they have and return them to their proper owner.

If a player runs out of cards in their draw pile, they will simply shuffle their discard pile and use it as a new draw pile.

Objects can be anything from rocks to coins.
